Among the Quebecers - 14

FERNAND ROBIDOUX (1920-1998) was a radio host and a singer. He’s recognized for being one of the first singers who recorded Quebec original songs, but also as a pioneer in the promotion of local creation. In 1965, he interviewed Nana at London, her record company of that time.

JULIE SNYDER (1967- ) is a television host, a producer and a businesswoman. She was destined to a lawyer's career, but she got a first job on TV and never left the small screen since 1983. Among the programs she animated, there are "Le poing J", "Le banquier", "Star Academy" and in France "Vendredi, c’est Julie". Each time, TV viewers still see the playful and dynamic girl full of surprises. She interviewed Nana in 1992 and in 1997.

MARTINE ST-CLAIR (1962- ) revealed herself in 1980, while participating in the first Québécois version of the rock opera "Starmania". In spite of her youth, she immediately had big records sales and accumulated rewards during the ADISQ galas. During the two last decades, other important successes followed and it is now the songwriter that we discover. Martine has a great admiration for Nana since she was little. Both sang in duet in 1988 on the CBC set.

H. ARNOLD STEINBERG (1933-2015) was a Montreal businessman and philanthropist. Member of the board of several major Canadian corporations, he also participated in numerous charitable, educational and cultural organizations. In 2009 he was appointed Chancellor of McGill University. Mr Steinberg met Nana at the Convocation of Arts and Religious Studies in 2013. There he awarded her a Doctorate "honoris causa" in recognition of her singing career and her social and humanitarian commitment.

Songwriter and singer, DIANE TELL (1959- ) learned how to play violin and guitar from her childhood. At fifteen years old, she started to earn her living by singing jazz in the Montreal bars and while working as chorister. In 1977, she recorded the first of four albums of which she composed and wrote all the songs before settling in France in 1983. Since then, she remained there and continues to evolve in the musical universe. Nana knows her music and is aware that she is one of those who marked the beginning of the massive arrival of Quebec artists in France.

FABIENNE THIBEAULT (1952- ) made her debut in singing in 1972 while participating at the Granby Song Contest. Little by little, the general public discovered this superb voice which sang the big Quebec authors. From 1976, she could be heard on the radio thanks to her recordings. Three years later, the success of the songs she interpreted in the rock opera "Starmania" made her one of the most popular artists in the Francophonie. In order to have a better followup of her European career, she decided to settle in the Hexagon in 1985. In her concerts, Fabienne did several singers imitations. She already said that she would be unable to imitate Nana, who likes her voice and her songs. Both have a particular affection for traditional songs and are burning defenders of French music. Moreover, they inaugurated Charles Trenet's home in Narbonne during the 2011 edition of his festival.
Child of television, MARIE-SOLEIL TOUGAS (1970-1997) grew up in front of the TV viewers, by incarnating various characters. With the passing years, we recognized in her a girl who doesn’t fear of being involved. During six years, she animated "Téléthon Enfant Soleil" during which she met Nana in 1992. Whole Quebec was embanked after learning her tragic death which occurred during an air crash. She only was 27 years old.
